Climate Change Exhibition

We decided to draw some posters to make aware our fellow students how can they fight against climate chage.

1. Get involved

Support effective climate organizations: like "Ekologistak martxan", "Eguzki", "Greenpeace"...

2. Be energy efficient

Switch off lights, Change light bulbs to compact fluorescents or LEDs, nplug computers, TVs and other electronics when not in use. Wash clothes in cold or warm (not hot) water, don't use driers...

4. Eat Green

Buy organic and locally grown foods. Avoid processed items. Grow some of your own food. And eat low on the food chain (at least one meat-free meal a day)

5.RRR

Reduce your consumerism. Reuse as much as you can second hand things. Recycle paper, plastic, metal, glass, and organics.

6. Use your feet

Transportation causes about 25 per cent of  greenhouse gas emissions, so walk, cycle or take transit whenever you can.

Faces of Europe

We decided to do an activity to celebrate Europe's Day.
We have a contest to take an original picture that represents Europe for you, then you add a motto related to the same subject. We are going to add the winners to the ELOS blog with the other schools

The 9th of May, Europe's Day, we are going to give the prizes to the winners.
This is the poster:

POETRY WORKSHOP

Today we made a workshop following the ideas of Jana Putrle.
We had a poem of a Slovenian writer: "Fish"

Riba
Če še tako previdno prerežeš trebuh
te čudovite srebrne ribe izvlečeš

drobovje obrišeš prah s poličk

in postaviš ostre predmete najviše

te varnost ne bo rešila strahov.

Beda ne zagotavlja dobre

pesmi. Bližina smrti te zgolj naredi bolj

samega. Napolnjeni z veseljem kot akvarij

z drstečimi ribami

gledamo race

ki si sledijo z zamahi lopatastih nog

en dva en dva

v vrsti.

Neki red je v vsem skupaj.

Neka peresna lahkost.

We cut apart words or phrases from the 'Fish' poem and they rebuild a new poem. They did not understand anything, but we learnt about slovenian language. We tried to read it, and they liked the sound of it!
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/slovene.htm

We translated to the English and commented on the result. We discuss if it did work or not. It did!!! We liked it

I asked them to make an illustration for they poem.

They explain the meaning of the images of their illustration.
We commented on the poetic ideas, images, methapors, they draw.

Finally we translated the original poem into Basque.
The general consideration was positive they grew an concern about Slovenian.
How strange sounded the language to us. As strange as Basque will sound to others. They liked playing with poetry and creating poetical images out of the poem. They had a Good Time!
Thak you Jana!!!
